Structural pastes for relief and decorative effects

Structural pastes are materials with a thick consistency, designed to create relief, texture and various decorative effects. They allow you to turn a smooth surface into a three-dimensional decoration and are widely used in decoupage, mixed media, decoration of objects, paintings and other creative projects.

Depending on the desired result, you can choose between smooth, grainy, modeling and gel pastes, as well as products with special decorative effects.

What structural pastes can you use?

Smooth and grainy structural pastes

Classic structural pastes are suitable for creating relief and texture. The different structure of the products allows you to get both a relatively smooth relief surface and a rougher, grainy effect.

Pastes for working with stencils

The structural paste can be applied with a spatula through a stencil to create repeating relief motifs, ornaments and inscriptions. In the category you will also find pastes with metallic and pearl finishes, which simultaneously create relief and add decorative color and shine.

Modeling and gel pastes

Modeling pastes are suitable for building volume and shaping more pronounced relief elements, they remain flexible after drying and can be used to create casts. Gel pastes offer a different finish and can be used to create transparent, glossy or other decorative effects depending on the specific product.

Special effects pastes

For more realistic and unusual decorations, you can use structural pastes that mimic various natural textures and surfaces. These include products with the effect of snow, ice and snow crystals, stone, moss and grass, as well as pastes with metallic, pearl and glitter particles.

How is structural paste applied?

Texture pastes are usually applied with a spatula directly onto the substrate or through a decorative stencil. The thickness and method of application determine the type of relief obtained. You can leave the surface smooth, form marks and texture with a tool, or use a stencil for a precise motif.

What surfaces can they be used on?

Depending on the specific product, structural pastes can be used on wood, MDF, canvas, cardboard, plastic and other suitable substrates. They combine perfectly with acrylic paints, patinas and other decorative materials.

How to combine structural pastes with other materials?

The relief can be part of a more complex decoration. After drying a suitable structural paste, the surface can be further colored and highlighted with acrylic paints, patinas or wax pastes. This way, the convex and concave parts can be accentuated and a greater depth of the decoration can be created.
